What To Expect
When you arrive at Chesapeake Community of Hope on Sunday you can expect the following:
• Casual atmosphere
• Extremely friendly people
• Acceptance of wherever you are on your spiritual journey
• Vibrant, praise and worship
• Practical teaching from the Bible
• Classes and activities for kids, teens and adults (you won’t baby sit during the message.)
• Coffee, juice and doughnuts as soon as you walk in
• Hope: spiritual, emotional, hands on help.
Here some answers to commonly asked questions.
How do we worship at CCOH?
We are led in worship by a contemporary praise band. We believe true, heart-felt worship should lead to an encounter with God. The more you participate, the more you experience God.
How often do we have communion? Who is welcome to participate?
We serve communion normally on the fourth Sunday of the month. All who believe that Jesus is their personal Savior are welcome to participate. If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Savior, we invite you to come forward at communion time for a blessing. Children who have not yet received communion instruction may also come forward for a blessing. "Detailed instructions are given prior to celebrating communion".
How should I dress?
CCOH has always been a "come as you are" church. Jeans or ties are equally welcomed.
What's available for my kids?
We love kids here at CCOH! We have Children's programs running throughout the year designed just for them. Kids in Children's ministry programs learn about God's love for them every week in a vibrant way.
Children typically stay in the first portion of the worship service, and then are dismissed to their classes. Please see below for where your child's age group meets:
• Infants - Young Threes (not potty trained): Nursery. Parents must sign children in and out of class and take a pager for security.
• Preschool - Kindergarten: Jr. Kids Quest.
• Grades 1-5: Kids Quest.
• Grades 6-8: Tweens.
• Grades 9-12: Stay in for the message during worship and have a Bible Study time after worship.
• What if my kids get noisy during the service? Children are always welcome in the Worship Center. Should children become restless or noisy, we have a quiet room in the back of the sanctuary.
What's available for my teenager?
Our youth leader is Tad Nickerson. Tad is a young, passionate husband, dad, and youth leader who loves young people and yearns to help them grow in their faith. For more information on our youth ministry, visit our ministry page.
What if I'd like to pray with someone?
Prayer is the engine that fuels CCOH. There's ministry time offered during each of the weekend services with the pastor or member of our prayer team. They are also available to pray with you before and after every service in the sanctuary or in the Prayer Room. You are welcome to join us for Pre-service prayer from 8:00-8:30a.m. You can also submit your prayer requests on the Communication card in the bulletin, on our web site (ccohchurch.com) or via e-mail www.office@ccohchurch.com
Financial Giving
We do not pass an offering plate. Offering baskets are located on the table by the front door. We believe that giving is a by product of a trusting heart with God, not a hard sell from a preacher. Tithes and offerings are given as an act of worship for attendees who consider CCOH their home. For new visitors to CCOH, we want you to be blessed by the worship gathering and to give as God inspires you.
